Say g’day to this ocean-themed, globe-trotting Gromit back from his long-haul trip down under - Reef Encounter. He’s a beaut, and he shore hits the spot; let me tell ya!
He’s a whole new kettle of fish and features the beautiful creatures and coral of the most extensive coral reef system on Earth, located off the coast of Australia, the Great Barrier Reef.
You first saw the Reef Encounter sculpture at the Gromit Unleashed: The Grand Adventure Exhibition in 2020. and he's currently at our Gromit Unleashed Showcase exhibition at The Gromit Unleashed shop, The Mall, Cribbs Causeway, Bristol.
Artist Paula Bowles covered Gromit, head to toe, in all aquatic things, including some of the vast number of creatures found in The Great Barrier Reef. This excellent habitat is home to over 1,500 species of fish, 134 species of sharks and rays, and 30 species of marine mammals. Paula used vivid neon colours to celebrate the incredibly colourful corals of the reef.
We are not fishing for compliments here, but Reef Encounter’s bright tropical fish and coral design make him our most so-fish-ticated figurine yet. With his coat of sea, coral, fish and bubbles, he’ll brighten up any room this side of the southern hemisphere,
